Lakeview Baptist Church moved to its present Highway 317 location on February 8, 1953 with Reverend Ira Perry Sr. serving as the first pastor. The church was previously named the Tennessee Valley Baptist Church and was located in what is now Temple Lake Park. Two other churches, The Cedar Creek Baptist Church and the Berea Tabernacle, moved their congregations to merge with the Tennessee Valley Baptist Church and the three became the Lakeview Baptist Church.
Buildings from all three churches were moved to the new location and used for many years afterwards. In 1978, the fellowship hall was built and used as an auditorium. In 1981, the two-story education building was built. All the while the church continued to grow and minister to the surrounding community.
In 1993, the church voted to enter a capital fundraising campaign to raise money for the construction of a new 500 seat worship center. Groundbreaking for the building was held in March of 1995 and the church moved into the worship center in November of that same year.
Presently the church averages 165 attendees in Sunday School and over 200 in the Morning Worship Service. We are a congregation that ministers to all family members and encourage you to contact the church office if you have any questions about the church or its ongoing ministries.
