Scripture Focus: Isaiah 40:12-31
“Behold Your God! (Isaiah 40:9b)
Having heard the voice of comfort, Isaiah now calls us to lift our eyes and behold the greatness of God. In a world prone to discouragement, this passage gives a stunning vision of the One who holds all things together. God is not merely a helper. He is the Holy One, the Creator, the everlasting King.
THE MAJESTY OF GOD IN CREATION
Isaiah 40:12–14
Who can measure the oceans or weigh the mountains? God can, and does. These verses use poetic questions to remind us that nothing is beyond His power. When we feel overwhelmed, we must look up, not inward, and remember who our God is.
THE INCOMPARABLE WISDOM OF GOD
Isaiah 40:13–14
God has never needed counsel. He has never been taught or corrected. His wisdom is unsearchable. That means every path He leads us on is perfect, even when we don’t understand it.
THE NOTHINGNESS OF THE NATIONS
Isaiah 40:15–20
Isaiah pulls back the curtain on human pride. Nations are as dust and idols are mere trinkets. What we often fear most, God considers weightless. Trust in Him; not in governments, economies, or human strength.
THE GLORY OF GOD ABOVE THE EARTH
Isaiah 40:21–26
Lift up your eyes. God sits enthroned above the circle of the earth. He names the stars and commands the cosmos. The God of Genesis is still on the throne and He has not forgotten His people.
THE GRACE OF GOD TO THE WEARY
Isaiah 40:27–31
Why do we say, “My way is hid from the LORD?” He sees. He knows. And He strengthens. Those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength. Eagles soar, not by flapping harder, but by riding the wind. So too must we rest in His promises.
INVITATION: BEHOLD, BELIEVE, AND BE RENEWED
This is the God we worship. This is the God who sent His Servant. He is not small. He is not distant. He is not weary. Look up. Behold your God.
Come. The Servant is calling. The Gospel is here.
