James Scott

I was born in Gastonia, N.C. in 1972 and moved to Texas in 2008, with my wife, Dawn, son, Chris, and dog, Jersey Girl. Dawn is originally from New Jersey, and we met in North Carolina and were married in October 2003. God blessed us with our son in October 2004.

I was raised in a Christian home by my mother, who took us to church every time the doors were open. I was saved at the age of 9 and was baptized by immersion at Ridge Baptist Church in Gastonia, N.C. We have been faithful members of Lakeview since 2008. I was ordained as a deacon in July 2018.

Before I met my wife, I was not sure what God was doing in my life. I ran from Him daily. When I walked into Serenity Baptist Church one Sunday morning with my mom, I knew what I had been missing. Since that day, God has blessed my life more and more. He brought me my wife, my son, and even brought me to Texas. He has brought me through trials and heartache and shown me how His love really works in my life.

I work as a truck driver and Dawn works at the VA Clinic in Temple. We enjoy watching our son grow in Christ, play sports and excel in school. I enjoyed coaching him in sports until he entered middle school. As a family, we love to watch college football (go Mountaineers!) and basketball (go Heels!).

One of my favorite Bible verses is Romans 5:1 – “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ!”
