Pastor Bob’s Blog (Page 2)

Why? That was the answer to a statement I made concerning me writing a Pastor’s Blog for Lakeview Baptist Church. I must admit, that caught me by surprise.
The answer to his three-letter question will take some time to answer.
First, we live in the 21st century and everything is going digital if it hasn’t already done so. I own a wrist watch that allows me to make and answer calls. It just makes sense to throw a “hook” into the digital waters.
Second, a blog (binary log) gives me another avenue to complete the “Great Commission.” We are to “preach and teach.” A blog gives me a chance to craft a simple, single Bible study, meditation or encouragement to the digital world.
Third, I can share my thoughts about the Scriptures, doctrine or the Christian life in short essays.
Pastor Crowder will be doing most of the writing, however, other members, deacons or teachers may make cameos.
Mostly, this blog will be fairly random, covering a wide array of topics. HOWEVER, I will not discuss politics.
Topics like; doctrine, parenting, prayer, pastoring, bible study helps and current cultural issues.
This blog is devoted to learning.

Jesus Never Waivered In His Mission

For almost three years Jesus shared the message God had instructed Him to deliver to the Nation Israel. “Repent, for the Kingdom of God/Heaven is at hand.” JESUS NEVER WAVERED IN THAT MISSION Even though Jesus was on His way to take part in the Feast of…

Jesus is the Fulfilment of Prophecy

Jesus mission on earth was “For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost” (Luke 19:10). Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). However, Jesus accomplished all the work that the Father gave Him to do as “Prophet, Priest and King.” Jesus: the Prophet God chose the OT prophets to proclaim His word to His people. Their job was difficult, for when God raised up a prophet, it was…

Looking towards the Resurrection

In just a few weeks, we will be celebrating Easter. This is the “High and Holy Day” for Christians around the world. Most of the world today has at least a limited understanding who Jesus Christ is. Some religions have included Him in their list of prophets. Some even acknowledge that He is a god. Many notable people have commented on Jesus’ place as the most famous, important, and significant person in history: “I am an historian, I am not…

My First Bible

Do you remember your first bible? My neighbors picked up my brother and I and took us to church. I received my first Bible from my Sunday School teacher.

Pierced for Our Rebellion

I use many different Bible translations while preparing sermons. I even use translations I don’t particularly like, but it helps me to be aware of the many different translations that the congregation may be using. One year while preparing for an Easter sermon,I looked was moved by the NLT translation for Isaiah 53. The King James Version says: “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and…
