We are so excited that you have chosen to worship with us at Lakeview. If you are considering membership with our congregation, we ask first and foremost that you spend time in prayer regarding this decision and follow the direction of the Holy Spirit in your life.
If the Holy Spirit guides you to join our membership, there are multiple ways you can do so. At Lakeview, we accept new members three different ways:
BAPTISM
After accepting Christ as your personal Savior, you must be baptized to become a member. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision. Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
Sometimes the church you previously attended or were baptized in is no longer in existence, or records may have been lost or destroyed, making it impossible for us to request a transfer letter. You may also be coming from a different denomination. In either case, we accept you on your statement that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and have followed Him in baptism by immersion.
LETTER
If you are currently a member of another Southern Baptist Church, you may transfer your membership from that church to Lakeview. We simply request a letter from your current church stating that you are a member in good standing.
At the end of each Sunday morning worship service, we offer what we call an invitation. This is simply a time for any individual, or family, to respond to the call of the Holy Spirit in your life. During this time, if the Holy Spirit has led you to join our congregation as a member, we ask that you come forward, publicly, to answer His invitation. We will counsel with you briefly, discuss your salvation, talk about baptism, and find out about previous/current church memberships. Following this time of invitation, you will be presented to the congregation to be accepted as a new member.
We do not require that you attend a class in order to become a member of Lakeview. Our ministers and deacons are available to answer any questions you may have regarding membership at Lakeview including what Lakeview believes and its association and convention affiliations.
If you would like for one of our ministers to contact you regarding your desire, please email [email protected] or call (254) 780-1884.
